Wisconsin Nonprofits Association

With support from the Nonprofit Management Fund and several of the funding partners, the Wisconsin Nonprofits Association was created. In June 2008, the Association held its inaugural statewide conference with over 250 nonprofit leaders attending. For a first effort, it was an impressive event, including two national leaders providing keynote addresses, one of whom was introduced by Fund partner Robin Mayrl of the Helen Bader Foundation.

A singular event at the inaugural conference was the release of a report “More than Charity”. Highlights from this report on Wisconsin nonprofits include the following:
  • There are over 31,000 nonprofits in Wisconsin.
  • The sector’s workforce employed in Wisconsin is 13th in the nation.
  • The value of assets of Wisconsin nonprofits increased 173% in a ten year span from 1995-2005.
  • Program service revenues (fees and contracts) account for 82% of the income received by Wisconsin nonprofit organizations.

If your nonprofit organization has not yet joined WNA, consider membership in 2011. For more information, visit wisconsinnonprofits.org to learn about the services and benefits you can receive.
