New Market Environment
Conference

The lines between for-profits and nonprofits are blurring. For-profits are entering areas of social service and other work traditionally occupied by nonprofits. Nonprofits are turning to entrepreneurship and enterprise to generate the income and provide the services necessary to succeed and prosper.

The policy implications are far-reaching for nonprofits, government, foundations and other funders, business and civic leadership, service recipients and the public at large.

These matters were explored in a day-long symposium on "Nonprofits and For-Profits in the New Market Environment" held on Tuesday, October 3, 2000 at the Milwaukee Public Musem. The conference was co-sponsored by:

  • Donors Forum of Wisconsin
  • Nonprofit Center of Milwaukee
  • Nonprofit Management Fund
  • Public Policy Forum
  • United Way of Greater Milwaukee

The conference planning committee is considering various ideas as a "next step" to follow the symposium. To learn more go to "What's Next."
