The Strategic Alliance Fund of Waukesha County

Nonprofit organizations in Waukesha County have a long history of developing partnerships, including moving beyond collaboration towards integrated service delivery through strategic alliances and mergers to advance their missions. Over the years, these collaborative relationships have added value by strengthening services and reducing duplication, as well as proving to be cost effective for the long term.
Now, with continued concern about the economy, fiscal challenges, and increased competition for funding, more nonprofits are seeking cost-saving strategies to maintain and enhance programs and services.
The Nonprofit Management Fund of Waukesha County and other funding partners are encouraging nonprofits to consider partnerships, collaborations, strategic alliances or mergers to expand services and share resources with compatible organizations. By working together, nonprofit organizations can build organizational capacity and have a greater impact on the community.
Through a new funding initiative, the Strategic Alliance Fund, dollars have been earmarked to underwrite the process of considering and possibly establishing, a formal organizational collaboration, strategic alliance, or merger with at least one other nonprofit organization. This tool kit is designed to help nonprofit organizations in Waukesha County determine whether a partnership of some type would help fulfill their missions in a more cost-effective manner.
