Through the use of marketing strategies and updated brochures, we learned effective methods for connecting with clients and potential donors. We became aware of the need to strike a balance between raising awareness and overwhelming our target audience with appeals and contacts. The application process is straightforward. It takes resources to build the capacity of nonprofits. Family Service is appreciative of the continued support of the Nonprofit Management Fund.

The Nonprofit Management Fund assisted with funding for having out website redesigned to better educate the public on the programs and activities at HAWS. This will be a motivational component for the staff as they are able to see the specific impact their departments are having on shelter goals, since this was designed in the process. It will serve to educate the public on services and programs offered by HAWS. It will share our success with the community and be a tool for education on humane sentiments, serving as the first contact with the public.

[The consultant] quickly and easily built rapport with Board members. By attending Board meetings and committee meetings, meeting with officers, and attending Plowshare's educational outreach events, [the consultant] developed a deep understanding of our mission, our strengths, and our challenges. The Women's Center requested assistance in updating our agency's personnel policy manual. Funding from the Nonprofit Management Fund enabled us to hire a contractor specializing in personnel policies for nonprofit agencies. Our personnel policy manual is now in-line with current human resource practices.
